Abductee, Daily Lives of High School Boys, Kids Return: the Reunion, Oshin, Woman of Sunshine, Tokyo Shutter Girl and Other Japanese Film Trailers

Fast Baaba REcording TelevisionThis week has been one of getting back into a new work routine – different hours but I have made a start with my anime picks from the autumn season. I have started with Log Horizon, Coppelion, and Beyond the Boundary. In film terms I watched the live-action Rorouni Kenshin on Monday and it was pretty awesome.

The posts this week consisted of previewing films at the Leeds International Film Festival, the London International Animation Festival and giving my final thoughts on Attack on Titan.

Here are the trailers for the films released this weekend (trailers and synopses are brief due to a lack of time and way too many things happening):

I have only watched clips/Gifs of the anime this is adapte from and it looks reasonable amusing. The adaptation comes from the director of Afro-Tanaka, Daigo Matsui. The one other noticeable name in this is Mizuki Yamamoto, the Queen of the social scene in The Kirishima Thing.

Tadakuni (Suda), Yoshitake (Nomura) and Hidenori (Yoshizawa) all attend a boys high school and constantly think about girls. Imagine the chaos caused when their school co-hosts a festival with an all-girls high school.

I’m watching the trailer and I know I should be crying – a cute child enduring hardships and overcoming them (live, little one, live!) but I’m listening to Perfume performing Plastic Smile as I try and rush through writing these trailers. Congrats go out to Kokone Hamada for defeating 2471 other little girls in the bruising battle to become the title character!

A young girl named Oshin (Hamada) is sent to work for another family because her own are poor. She overcomes hardships and audiences weep in this continuation of an NHK TV drama from 1984.
