13 Assassins was a masterpiece – best film I’ve seen this week, this year, maybe one of the in many years. For anybody who hasn’t seen it, do yourself a favour and watch it. Anyway, here are a couple of trailers that are interesting and a link definitely worth checking out.
We Need to Talk About Kevin
Lynne Ramsay (director of the British film Ratcatcher) has adapted the novel written by Lionel Shriver which involves how a mother of a teenage boy who has gone on a high-school shooting spree deals with her grief. I have the book and now I get to watch the film. It stars Tilda Swinton (one of the best actresses out there) and John C. Reilly (a great dramatic actor – Magnolia – I’m not so fond of his comedies). Here’s the trailer:
For any fans of that classic film The Host, here’s another South Korean monster movie to get you interested. Sector 7 is a 3D film that takes place on an oil rig where the workers are picked off one by one. My first thought? James Cameron’s The Abyss with teeth and without the marital fireworks. Here’s the trailer.
Link of the Week
I like horror films but not as much as Goregirl. The breadth and depth and number of her reviews is rather amazing stemming from North America, Europe and Japan. Her knowledge is impressive and her writing is always a pleasure to read. Furthermore, she reviews on a regular basis which is important for a blogger. Anyway, take a trip to Goregirl’s Dungeon.
